Crazy as it will sound, I think there is some validity to my mum’s most recent “conspiracy theory.” According to her, the sudden appearance of a new set of organs for the poor little girl that was nearly killed by a medical mistake at Duke University’s Hospital is rather suspicious. According to the news, the chances of finding a new donor –especially one who would match her specific blood type and body size– was not likely. Then, out of the blue, within a few days, a donation is received from an anonymous source just one or two days before her imminent passing (peculiar, isn’t it?). Hey, it’s not like organs grow up in trees or remain stored somewhere till the next person needs them. These are not the days when organs get cloned (at least not that we know of). Which leads us to wonder: was some little kid’s lifespan shortened in order to keep the other one alive –thus preventing a tremendous lawsuit after all the bad press and exposure? Someone’s hidden hand must have been at work on this one. I’d better not write or read anything else about it; I might end up being questioned for being too subversive.

And speaking of conspiracy theories, I was watching Penn & Teller on Showtime and they had some weirdos discussing the end of the world as we know it (followed by a special on folks who believe in the existence of little green men and alien abductions). I cannot believe that some heads are still as gullible as to believe that the government is involved in alien conspiracies and experiments. Who on God’s Green Earth believes this bullshit? I mean, the so-called millennium passed about two or three years ago (the dividing line depending on individual perspective) and fools are still running around with Bibles in their hands speaking of apocalypse and the imminent destruction of our sinful world. Idiots, please… Put your Book to the side and grab a newspaper. Stop investing your time and money in ludicrous rubbish such as nuclear shelters and societies for survival. Our reality is one that’s based upon oil interests and territorial dominance; religion, dogma, morals, ethics, and nationalism are cheap facades to the real causes behind the imminent war. Wake up and smell the coffee, and I guarantee you it is not Colombian or Brazilian.

On an absolutely unrelated note, the movie Original Sin is as awful as they come. I had always heard and read terrible reviews about its sleazy plot and overall quality. I hate to agree, but it is so bad that it had me laughing and turning my butt from one cheek to the other in hopeless desperation (two hours of non-sense?). It was so tiresome, yet I kept waiting for a good explanation to what my eyes were seeing. The denouement was so contrived that I had to say it out loud: “this film is crap.” Damn… I can’t believe how Angelina Jolie has managed to make so many poor choices in her acting career. It is quite annoying.

And speaking of unrelated topics, I had to terminate the employee that everyone called my “favourite.” It was a hard decision but the lad screwed up in a way that could not be tolerated. He had done the same thing previously (he was suspended at the time) and therefore a new chance was not available as per higher management. I am not one who enjoys the whole issue of removing someone from his/her source of income I leave that to fools with big egos and power trips but this time I have to admit that this choice was the best one to make. I will miss the kid and his poet from the ghetto antics. And, just for the record, he was indeed one of my favourites.

Anyway, I am tired and I need to be at the office at 7:00 or earlier tomorrow. I guess it is only appropriate for me to head towards dreamland at this point.

And…?

I have a historiograhical essay due at noon today. Less than two hours and only a few pages have been typed. Seems like my lack of inspiration to write has taken over every facet of my existence. Ideas come to my head but they seem to die within seconds. The few thoughts that manage to be expressed wind up being deleted as they don’t satisfy me enough. Being a perfectionist is not a good thing, especially if you happen to be a procrastinator as well. It’s not like this project was assigned to me only a few days ago; I’ve known of its existence for two weeks, yet every time that I sat in front of my computer to get it started I managed to write only a line or two. I guess I’ve been exhausted from working over 48 hours for the past three weeks. Watching movies during my free time has been more interesting than taking care of my academic duties. The fact that I purchased Season 2 of HBO’s OZ hasn’t helped a lot. Heh, watching the lives and happenings of a bunch of criminals is always more exciting than reading about Mediaeval Universities and their philosophy. Anyone who happens to be a fan of this nasty little show knows what I’m taking about.

By the way, those who follow Oz certainly know that the show’s last episode will be airing this coming Sunday. I can’t wait to see what kind of death they’re planning for Schillinger and what the future holds for the “romance” between Keller and Beecher. In any case, the fact that this show (as well as my other favourite, Sex And the City) are coming to an end is making me quite irritated. Last year I had both Ally and the X-Files going off the air, now my two cable shows are saying bye-bye as well. Guess there’s no reason to pay for cable anymore; or maybe I should put my 60″ TV for sale on Ebay. Oh wait, Six Feet Under is still going; the new season starts in a few days. There’s life on TV after all. Even if the world is nearing its end thanks to our brilliant president. I guess I prefer to live in a world of fantasy and media instead of worrying about the crude realities that surround me.

My break is over (I’m at work right now). I will come back for an edit sometime during my lunch or later tonight. I just need to add something of importance to this rubbish that I just typed. So far this is one of those entries that Mah Fleur calls “garbage posts“. God, please inspire me for my school paper…
